Seminars
  2024-10-10 11:30 - 14:30

Castellon, Spain

Abstract:

Since the launch in 2009 of the first cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, the adoption and use of cryptocurrencies has increased more and more worldwide.
Many other cryptocurrencies have been introduced, with very diverse characteristics and aimed at specific needs. The technology has become increasingly refined, and is also used for projects that are not open and public like Bitcoin, but as a basis for the management of contractual interactions and supply chain certification, for Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and for other projects of great interest.

The seminar will cover the technological basis of cryptocurrencies (blockchain, DLT, smart contracts, consensus mechanisms), the current state of cryptocurrencies as a storage of value and a means of exchange, including Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs), stablecoins,  the approvals of ETFs based on public cryptocurrencies, the characteristics and opportunities of CBDCs and other potentially critical initiatives, such as the potential BRICS’ currency called “The Unit”.
